Church Government
According to our Constitution, Cornerstone EFC is a congregational church that is led by its Pastor(s), Elders, and Deacons and is governed by its Board. The Elders share responsibility for general spiritual oversight of the church. They also function as preachers, teachers and spiritual counselors. Each Deacon has a specific area of responsibility such as Christian Education, Church Finances, etc. The Deacons collectively constitute the Administrative Board, which is empowered by the church to make policy decisions within the framework of the Constitution. Any matters, which fall outside of the boundaries set by the Constitution, must be approved by congregational vote.
The Administrative Board meets on a monthly basis (currently, the fourth Tuesday) and the meetings are open to all members of the congregation. The minutes of each board meeting are given to the congregation for review and approval as appropriate at congregational church meetings. Congregational meetings are normally held once a quarter at the conclusion of the worship service on the second Sunday of the month. All those who attend Cornerstone regularly, or who are members, should attend the Congregational Meetings.
